Meet Moyo, the resilient baby elephant who was rescued from the clutches of danger. This brave little soul faced drowning while attempting to cross a flooded river at just a few days old. Abandoned by her pack and surrounded by a pack of hungry hyenas, fate intervened as vigilant rangers arrived just in time to save her.

The compassionate rangers swiftly transported Moyo to the ‘Wild Is Life’ sanctuary, where she found a new mom in the form of sanctuary founder Roxy Danckwerts. Now, at 14 months old, Moyo has formed an inseparable bond with Roxy, trailing her every step.

Roxy marvels at the inexplicable connection, stating, ‘She knows my voice, my smell, and somehow knows where I am at all times. How, I have no idea!’ As Moyo grows, navigating her playful escapades around the house becomes a delightful challenge.

‘She is one of those animals with whom I have formed an extraordinary bond of friendship, trust, and love,’ expressed Danckwerts. ‘Letting go will be hard. However, I am so determined and so sure of this road that I have chosen. I want the best for the elephant children, and that best is freedom to roam and make their own choices.’
